## Desk highlights

The notes the desk scored highest this day, in full.

### 07:40 UTC · US buyers pay less for Bitcoin on Coinbase

US buyers on Coinbase paid -0.177% against the global Bitcoin price in the latest reading, a level our records flag as an extreme low for this gap.
The Coinbase premium compares the $BTC price on Coinbase, where much of the US spot demand trades, with prices on the other major exchanges. A negative figure means the same coin changes hands for less in the US than elsewhere.
The reading also extends a streak our records count at 52 days. On its own, the premium measures where buyers pay up or hold back, not which way the price moves.

### 07:20 UTC · Coinbase priced Bitcoin cheaper for 52 days

US buyers bid Bitcoin at the low end of our 90 day range on Oct 26. Coinbase priced $BTC -0.177% under the global exchanges, the 52nd day in a row on the discount side.
That gap ran wider than its seven day average of -0.130%. The size of the discount moves from day to day, but the sign hasn't flipped in 52 sessions.
Quarterly futures still traded above spot, a premium worth +5.28% a year annualized. Traders in derivatives kept paying up for later delivery even with US spot buyers bidding under the rest of the world.

### 09:40 UTC · Stablecoin float shrinks $9.3B in a month

The dollars parked in stablecoins, the cash that sits on crypto rails, stood at $302.30B on Oct 26. The float lost $2.3B over 7 days and $9.3B over 30 days.
On the rates side, the Fed funds rate stood at 3.88% and the 10 year Treasury yield at 5%. The Fed's balance sheet was $6.75T, and the reverse repo facility, where money funds park spare cash overnight at the Fed, held $200.0M.

### 09:00 UTC · Leveraged AVAX buyers get squeezed out

The largest leverage move among the majors on Oct 27 came from $AVAX. Open interest, the value of open futures bets, fell 4.8% while price lost only 1.4%. That gap marks a long squeeze, where leveraged buyers' positions were closed out.
It stayed contained. Of 10 tracked majors, one was squeezing out and two were adding leverage.
Bitcoin traded at $79,760, down 0.64% over 24 hours, with Fear and Greed at 48 (neutral) and dominance at 60.00%. Coinbase priced $BTC 0.18% under global exchanges, day 52 of that streak.

### 15:37 UTC · Ether short sellers get squeezed for $12.9M

Ether's short sellers just took the hit. In the last 30 minutes, exchanges closed $12.9M of leveraged bets against $ETH. Each one was shut automatically once the margin behind it could no longer cover the move higher.
The other side barely felt it. Liquidations on bets for a rising Ether came to $414.0K over the same window, across the major venues.
This was a short squeeze, with the pain sitting almost entirely with traders positioned for a lower Ether.

### 18:00 UTC · Most altcoins outran Bitcoin over 90 days

Bitcoin returned 25.6% over the past 90 days, and 41 of the 50 altcoins we track still did better. That puts the Altcoin Season Index at 82 on Oct 27, above the 75 line where altseason begins.
The reading is the same as a week earlier, a 7 day change of 0.
The gap inside the group is wide. $BTW leads with 18x over 90 days, and $APR trails at -81.2%. Even $DOGE, at +11.1%, sits among the five weakest names on the list, short of Bitcoin's gain.

### 15:20 UTC · Turkey's Bitcoin discount comes from the dollar

In Turkey, cheap Tether did most of the work behind a Bitcoin discount. Lira buyers paid -0.25% (-25.0 bps) under the global price on Oct 27, a score of 40 / 100 in the neutral regime.
USDT/TRY traded -19.7 bps against the official USD/TRY rate. That is the dollar leg. The crypto leg added only -5.3 bps. Every exchange in the read priced $BTC below the world. OKX TR was the dearest at -13.3 bps, and CoinTR the cheapest at -26.5 bps.
The 24 hour average came to -31.2 bps and the 7 day average to -20.1 bps. This is a price gap between lira venues and the world, not a trade anyone can lock in.

### 15:01 UTC · DOOD sellers pay up as their bets close

Sellers on DOOD carry the heaviest fee on this board on Oct 27. Funding on $DOOD reads -0.56%, which means traders betting on a drop pay buyers to keep their positions open. Open futures bets there fell 25.8% in the 24 hours to 15:00 UTC.
AIN pulls the other way. Open bets on $AIN grew 29.26% over the same window, with buyers paying 0.15% to hold them. That is new money arriving on the side that pays. Q added 20.62% in open bets at a near flat 0.01%.
The rest of the board is split. Shorts lead on BULLA, QNT and KORU, longs on JCT and $MSTR.

## Desk log

The rest of the day's notes, in order of publication.

### 00:35 UTC · Flat day still forced 1,580 liquidations

Bitcoin went nowhere in the 24 hours to Oct 27, a +0.01% move to $80,126. Underneath that flat line, leverage kept getting cleared. Our collectors logged 1,580 recorded prints of $1K or more.
The biggest single one was a long liquidation of $1.2M on Binance, a leveraged buyer whose position was closed by the exchange. That is the size of the position, not the loss.
The liquidation heatmap behind the candles is an estimate of where leverage sits. The prints on the candles are recorded closures.

### 01:10 UTC · Liquidations rose but stayed under weekly pace

A busier day that was still a quiet week. Our streams recorded $142.9M of forced closures on Oct 26, up 46.5% from $97.5M on Oct 25 but well below the 7 day average of $264.0M. That total is a floor from public venue streams.
Leveraged buyers took 60.5% of it, $86.4M against $56.5M from shorts, across 64,050 events on 11 venues.
$BTC led by total at $35.1M, yet $ETH longs lost slightly more than Bitcoin longs, $21.5M against $21.2M. The single largest liquidation was an Ether position on Binance, which handled $80.0M of the day.

### 03:10 UTC · Stock perp liquidations jumped 361% on Oct 26

Forced closures on Binance's TradFi perpetuals reached $17.34M on Oct 26, up +361% from $3.76M on Oct 25. Both sides paid. Leveraged buyers lost $9.8M and sellers $7.6M across 173 contracts and 5,869 recorded events.
SanDisk's SNDK topped the board at $3.69M, split almost evenly between $1.92M of longs and $1.77M of shorts. The leveraged chip fund SOXL came next at $2.09M and carried the day's largest single closure, $257K.
Further down, traders short the dollar against the Brazilian real (USDBRL) lost $870K of its $1.12M, and buyers of Brazil's EWZ fund took $699K of its $748K.

### 05:38 UTC · Leveraged silver buyers hit with $1.6M flush

Silver just shook out its leveraged buyers. Over the last 30 minutes, $1.6M of $XAG long positions were liquidated across the major venues, meaning exchanges automatically closed bets on a higher price once the margin behind them ran out.
Traders positioned for a falling silver price came through untouched, with $0.00 in short liquidations over the same window. The whole flush landed on one side of the market.

### 06:20 UTC · Bitcoin longs pay 10.95% to stay on Binance

Leveraged $BTC buyers on Binance paid 10.95% a year in funding to keep their perpetual bets open in the Oct 27 read at 05:25 UTC. Funding is the fee longs pay shorts. Borrowing Bitcoin itself on margin at the same venue cost just 0.42% a year.
That 10.53% gap was the widest we recorded across the 15 assets and 3 venues on our board.
Dollars cost more at Binance. A $USDT margin loan there ran at 5.16% a year, the highest of the three. OKX was the cheapest at 3.5%, and Bybit's 3.91% set the median.

### 07:37 UTC · Gate closes USDT withdrawals on TON

Gate has USDT withdrawals over the TON network switched off. Our daily read of the exchange's own currency list picked up the change.
Anyone holding $USDT on Gate who planned to send it to a TON wallet can't use that route through the exchange for now. Deposits, and withdrawals on other networks, may still be open.
A withdrawal pause is the earliest public sign a venue gives when something is wrong, though most turn out to be routine maintenance.

### 08:00 UTC · Tron shorts pay up and keep adding bets

Short sellers on Tron ($TRX) pay the most of any coin on our board to keep their bets open, at -0.02% funding, meaning shorts pay longs every interval. Their open positions still grew 3.91% over 24 hours.
The other coins where shorts pay show positions shrinking instead. $ATOM is at -0.02% with open interest down 0.57%, APT at -0.01% with -2.3%, AVAX at -0.01% with -3.05%.
Where buyers pay, the rates are thin. Bitcoin's longs pay 0.01% as its open positions grew 4.11%, the largest build among the coins on that side.

### 08:10 UTC · A block sold the $80,000 December call

The biggest $BTC options trade of the past 48 hours sold upside rather than buying it. A taker sold a Dec 25 $80,000 call for $781.3K in premium, negotiated as a block. The seller keeps the full premium only if Bitcoin finishes at or below $80,000 on Dec 25.
The next two largest were put purchases, also blocks. $600.0K went on a Mar 26, 2027 $78,000 put and $431.5K on a Dec 25 $72,000 put. Puts pay off if price ends below the strike.
Over the last 24 hours, takers bought $6.9M of puts against $3.9M of calls across 14,338 recorded trades. Block trades carried 48% of all premium dollars.

### 09:20 UTC · Crypto.com's fund covers the thinnest slice

Crypto.com keeps the thinnest cushion of the 10 exchange insurance funds we track, $7.4M, equal to just 0.81% of the perpetual open interest we follow on that venue. Across all 10 venues the funds cover 16.17% of open bets. An insurance fund is the money an exchange keeps to pay for liquidations that close below a trader's bankruptcy price.
Combined, the funds held $7.61B on Oct 27, a change of -0.11% (-$8.3M) in 24 hours and -0.39% over 7 days. OKX runs the largest at $2.97B, at -0.25% on the day. Paradex posted the biggest move, -0.26%, on a $384K fund.
These are balances the venues report, not audits.

### 09:37 UTC · HTX reopens USDT withdrawals on TON

USDT withdrawals on the TON network are open again on HTX, about 46 hours after the route was closed. The change showed up in the exchange's own currency list during our daily read.
For $USDT holders on HTX, sending coins out over that network works through the exchange again. Anyone who was waiting on this route during the pause can use it once more.

### 09:40 UTC · Bitcoin bid side deepened 26% in a day

The $BTC spot price slipped 1% over the 24 hours to 09:36 UTC on Oct 27, from $80.5K to $79.7K, yet the bid side of the book got deeper. Resting bids within 2% of mid were 26% larger than a day earlier, and asks were 9.2% thinner.
Across 21 spot venues, $207.4M of bids sat within 2% of mid against $137.9M of asks, a 20.1% tilt toward the bid side. The largest walls hug the price on both sides, with $39.2M of bids at $79.6K (-0.05%) and $39.4M of asks at $79.7K (0.05%).
This is a snapshot. Resting orders can be pulled at any time, so the book shows where liquidity sat, not where price goes next.

### 10:00 UTC · Whale sellers edge out buyers by a slim margin

Whale sized sell orders outweighed buys in the 24 hours to 10:00 UTC on Oct 27, $6.33B against $5.89B. That left buyers with 48.2% of large order flow, above the 45% line we use for a seller led day, and we read it as two sided.
Bitcoin carried the bulk of the activity, with 3,724 of the 6,417 large orders. The biggest single order of the window was also in $BTC, at $22.4M.
$ETH came second with 2,339 large orders, and $SOL a distant third with 145.

### 11:00 UTC · Leverage crowds both sides of Bitcoin's price

Bitcoin's estimated liquidation map came out balanced at 11:00 UTC on Oct 27, with $BTC at $79,942. Within 3% of the price, modeled exposure split evenly between short sellers above and leveraged buyers below.
Above the price, the nearest modeled short level was $80,251, with the next cluster at $82,678. Those are the prices where short sellers would have to buy back. Below, long levels sat at $79,504 and $77,170, where leveraged buyers would be closed out.
These levels are estimates built from open interest and leverage, not recorded liquidations.

OKX opened four new perpetual contracts at once on Oct 27. BAC, CEG, IBKR and MPWR were all first seen by our collectors at 10:52 UTC, each on OKX alone.
In total, 14 new contracts appeared in the 24 hours to 12:30 UTC. EIDO and EQT went live on three venues together, Bybit, Gate.io and HTX, first seen at 08:52 UTC. STM arrived on Bybit and HTX at the same time.

### 12:50 UTC · Ether trades above yesterday's busiest zone

Ether trades above the price range where its perpetual traders spent most of yesterday's session, at $2,333.74 ahead of the US open. For $ETH that range ran from $2,305.29 to $2,332.07, with the most traded price at $2,317.52.
Bitcoin is still inside its own range, at $80,319.00. The most traded $BTC price was $80,014.16, and 70% of trading time sat between $79,753.79 and $80,434.76.
The range spanned 0.85% for Bitcoin and 1.16% for Ether. These levels mark where trade spent its time on Oct 26, a reference point rather than a floor or a ceiling.

### 13:00 UTC · Ether shorts crowd in above the price

Sellers on borrowed money hold the heavier side of Ether's estimated liquidation map on Oct 27. At 13:00 UTC, with $ETH at $2,335, more modeled exposure within 3% of price sits above it, where short positions would be forced to buy back.
Those levels crowd close. The modeled short clusters stand at $2,343 and $2,348, both a short distance over the price.
Below, the estimated long liquidation levels sit further off, at $2,299 and then $2,237. These are modeled from open interest and leverage, not recorded liquidations.

Ondo Stocks did most of the issuing in tokenized stocks on Oct 27. It put out 23 of the 30 new wrappers we recorded. Backpack Securities added 4 and Coinbase Tokenized Stocks 3.
By chain the split was Solana 27 and Base 3. The Coinbase three, all on Base, are $HOG as HOGc, $MVIS as MVISc and $UMAC as UMACc. Ondo's batch on Solana includes $ASST as ASSTon, BITAon and BMRNon.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $110.3M on Oct 26, but the five day net is still -$111.5M. One day of buying hasn't outweighed the week's redemptions, so the trend reads mixed.
IBIT's $110.3M matched the group's net for the day. Ether ETFs went the other way, with -$88.6M redeemed on Oct 26.
As of that date, the Bitcoin funds held $102.84B in net assets, with cumulative net inflows of $57.29B.

### 14:00 UTC · Chainlink's book charges the most for size

Of the eight order books we track, Bitcoin's took a $1.0M market order most cheaply at 14:00 UTC on Oct 27, giving up an estimated 0.4 bps between the quoted price and the average fill. In $LINK the same order cost 23.9 bps.
Cardano was next thinnest at 20.9 bps, then Dogecoin at 8.6 bps and BNB at 7.3 bps. On the deep side, Ether cost 1.1 bps, Solana 2.5 bps and XRP 5.4 bps.
Forced closes hit the book as market orders and pay that same toll. On $LINK and $ADA, a cluster of liquidations in either direction has far less depth to lean on than it does in $BTC.

### 14:00 UTC · Big Bitcoin walls flank price at $80,000

The two largest walls in Bitcoin's spot books on Oct 27 sit on either side of $80,000, barely apart. Sellers had $40.0M resting at $80,030 and buyers had $35.4M at $79,950, across 21 spot venues at 13:56 UTC.
Within 2% of price, the bid side runs deeper for $BTC. Bids came to $205.2M against $141.2M of asks, an 18.5% tilt toward buyers.
$ETH shows the same shape on a smaller scale. Near $2,321, $103.2M of bids faced $82.5M of asks, an 11.2% tilt, with the biggest bid wall of $22.2M at $2,318 and the biggest ask wall of $18.7M at $2,325.

### 15:40 UTC · Ether's sell side thinned 13.2% in a day

Sellers thinned out on Ether's spot books over the 24 hours to 15:36 UTC on Oct 27. Offers resting within 2% of the price shrank 13.2%, and bids in the same range grew 2.8%, with $ETH itself moving just 0.1%.
Across 21 spot venues that leaves $96.04M in asks against $92.95M in bids, so sellers still hold the slightly heavier side, a -1.6% imbalance.
The two biggest walls sit tight around the price. A $18.74M sell order rests at $2,343.21, 0.15% above mid, and a $17.59M buy order at $2,338.53, 0.05% below. This is a snapshot, and resting orders can be pulled at any time.

### 17:30 UTC · A block trader sold an $80,000 call

The largest single options trade of the day was a sale. A block trader sold an $80,000 call expiring Mar 26, 2027, collecting $847K in premium. A call is a contract that pays its holder if the price ends above the strike, so the seller took the other side of that bet.
Across the day, buyers spent $2.16M on puts, contracts that pay on a fall, against $2.00M on calls. Block trades, large deals arranged away from the public order book, made up 46% of the flow.
The two buying totals sit close together, and no side clearly led the day's spending. The trade that stood out was one large call sale far out in time.

### 19:00 UTC · Crypto mood slips 2 points, still neutral

Crypto traders turned a touch more cautious over the 24 hours to 19:00 UTC on Oct 27. The Fear and Greed index, a score of how bold or nervous the crowd feels, gave up 2 points to 48. That still reads neutral.
The cash parked on crypto rails barely moved. Total stablecoin supply was $303.40B, up 0.03% on the day, so no fresh wave of dollars arrived and none left in size.
Bitcoin made up 59.41% of the whole crypto market's value at the same hour, keeping well over half the market's weight on one coin.

### 20:00 UTC · Bitcoin makes up 59.44% of crypto's value

Bitcoin made up 59.44% of the whole crypto market's value at 19:42 UTC on Oct 27. That puts $BTC above every other coin combined, in a market worth $2.72T in total.
Ether came second at 10.5%, which leaves Bitcoin's slice of the market several times larger than $ETH's.
This reading has no 24 hour comparison, so it shows where the market's value sits, not which way money moved over the day.
