## Desk highlights

The notes the desk scored highest this day, in full.

### 12:41 UTC · US buyers pay less for 64th straight day

For a 64th day in a row, $BTC has cost less on Coinbase than on the big offshore exchanges. The latest daily gap is -0.150%, which means US buyers on the main American spot venue are paying less than the rest of the world.
The seven day average gap is -0.149%, so the latest reading sits almost exactly on its recent norm rather than standing apart from it.
This gap, the Coinbase premium, compares where the price is set on each side of the ocean. It measures relative demand between venues, not which way the price goes next.

### 08:10 UTC · Bitcoin put buyers edge past call buyers

Bitcoin option buyers spent a little more on puts than calls in the 24 hours to Nov 8, $708.4K against $641.9K. A put pays if $BTC settles below its strike, a call if it settles above.
Across 9,441 recorded trades, 13% of premium dollars went through block trades, deals negotiated off the order book and then reported to the venue.
The three largest single trades over the past 48 hours were all blocks. A taker sold a $81,000 call expiring Nov 13 for $764.9K, and two buys of the $62,000 put for the Jun 25, 2027 expiry came to $679.5K and $675.6K.

### 05:40 UTC · Miners add 12.9% more hashrate in a month

Over the 30 days to Nov 7, miners pointed +12.9% more computing power at Bitcoin, yet the last seven days of that stretch added only +1.2%. Our node read the hashrate, the total power securing the chain, at 1037 EH/s.
Difficulty, the bar every new block has to clear, stood at 148.36T on that date.
Block space was cheap on Nov 7. A transaction got in for about 1.0 sat/vB, the price paid per unit of block space, and miners took in 421.4 BTC over the day.

### 12:07 UTC · JCT short sellers squeezed for $1.7M

JCT short sellers just got squeezed. Across the major venues, $1.7M of leveraged bets on a lower $JCT price were liquidated in the last 30 minutes, meaning exchanges closed them once losses wiped out the collateral behind them.
Traders positioned for a rise took a smaller hit, with $330.6K of long positions closed the same way in that window.
The pain sat heavily on the short side this half hour. These totals come from the raw liquidation streams of the major venues.

### 11:37 UTC · MEXC closes USDT withdrawals on Solana

Tether can no longer leave MEXC over the Solana network. The exchange has just marked $USDT withdrawals on that route as closed on its own currency list, caught in our daily read of its listings.
Anyone planning to send USDT from MEXC to a Solana wallet, bridge or app has no path that way until the route reopens. Deposits and other networks for the same coin may still be working.
A closed withdrawal route is the earliest public sign a venue gives when something is wrong, though most pauses like this come down to routine maintenance.

### 05:07 UTC · Toobit closes USDC withdrawals on Optimism

Toobit has just closed USDC withdrawals on the Optimism network. The route shows as shut on the exchange's own currency list, caught in our daily read of its listings.
Traders holding $USDC on Toobit who meant to send it to an Optimism wallet, bridge or app can't use that path until it reopens. Deposits, and withdrawals over other networks, may still be open.
A closed route is the first public signal a venue gives when something changes, and most of these turn out to be routine maintenance.

### 04:37 UTC · MEXC closes Ether withdrawals on BSC

Ether held on MEXC can no longer leave over the BSC network. The exchange has just marked $ETH withdrawals on that route as closed on its own currency list, picked up in our daily read.
Anyone planning to move ETH from MEXC to a BSC wallet or app is blocked on that path until the route reopens. Deposits and other networks for ETH may still be open.
A closed withdrawal route is the earliest public signal a venue gives when something is off, but most of these pauses turn out to be routine maintenance.

### 11:30 UTC · Jupiter leans long, Hyperliquid whales don't

On Jupiter Perps, 82% of open positions bet on a rise. Among 265 of the biggest Hyperliquid accounts, only 41.1% of position value is long.
Jupiter longs hold $77.4M against $17.6M in shorts. $SOL carries most of it, $50.2M long versus $12.4M short, and $BTC sits at $22.0M against $4.0M. The JLP pool, the liquidity on the other side of these trades, holds $785.0M at a 10.78% APR.
Best realized profit per market for the week of Nov 2 to Nov 8 went to a $SOL wallet with $71.6K on $3.0M volume, a $BTC wallet with $56.9K on $4.7M, and an $ETH wallet with $44.2K on $19.6M.

## Desk log

The rest of the day's notes, in order of publication.

### 00:35 UTC · A $300K short forced out on a flat day

Bitcoin barely moved over the 24 hours to Nov 8, -0.06%, last at $75,763. The largest forced closure still landed on the side betting on a fall.
That was a short liquidation of $300K on Binance, a bet on a drop the exchange closed for the trader. Our collectors logged 282 recorded prints of $1K or more across the window.
The heatmap behind the candles is an estimate of where leveraged positions sit; the prints on them are recorded closures.

### 01:10 UTC · XRP longs took the day's heaviest losses

Saturday, Nov 7, belonged to XRP bulls in the worst way. Of the $6.8M in XRP positions closed by force, $6.5M were bets on a higher price, more than on Ether or Bitcoin. The single biggest forced closure of the day was $395K of XRP on Binance.
Across 11 venues and 680 symbols, our streams recorded $53.0M in liquidations over 35,569 events, a floor rather than the whole market. Longs took $40.5M, or 76.5%, and shorts $12.4M.
That is -70.7% from the $180.5M on Nov 6 and far under the $339.6M seven day average, a window that peaked at $913.5M on Nov 5.

### 03:10 UTC · Stock perp liquidations fell 95% in a day

Forced closures on Binance's stock, commodity and index perpetuals shrank to $2.28M on Nov 7, a 95% drop from the $46.56M recorded on Nov 6. The losses split almost evenly at 52% longs / 48% shorts, so neither side took most of the hit.
SanDisk led the list with $571K of $SNDK positions closed by force. $SOXL followed at $524K and SPCX at $412K. The single largest forced close was a $199K $SOXL position.
In all, 97 contracts were hit across 1,408 events on our recorded Binance stream.

### 06:20 UTC · Binance charged the most to borrow USDT

Binance was the most expensive of our three tracked venues for borrowing USDT on margin in the Nov 8 read at 05:25 UTC, at 5.77% a year. The same exchange also held the widest recorded gap of the day.
Traders keeping leveraged $BNB longs open on Binance paid 13.45% a year in funding, the fee longs pay shorts to hold perpetual positions. Borrowing $BNB itself there cost 2.9% a year. That left a recorded gap of 10.55%, the widest across the 15 assets we track.
For USDT, Bybit was the cheapest at 3.97% a year, and the median across venues came in at 4%.

Board: /borrow · Permalink: /brief/2026-11-08#2026-11-08-0620-borrow-daily

### 07:40 UTC · Hyperliquid whales tilt against Bitcoin

On Hyperliquid, the biggest $BTC traders have more money betting on a lower price than a higher one. Across 266 large accounts, $924.87M sits in bets on a fall against $487.92M in bets on a rise.
Weighted by dollar size, longs hold 35% of that money. The reading follows the open Bitcoin positions of the largest accounts on this one venue. It doesn't show what the same traders hold elsewhere, and a single reading carries no trend on its own.
The tilt is clear, and the weight of these accounts sits on the side that gains if Bitcoin falls.

### 09:20 UTC · OKX and Bybit insurance funds edge lower

OKX holds the largest exchange insurance fund at $2.90B, and it posted the biggest 24 hour move on Nov 8 at -0.23%. Bybit matched that -0.23%, leaving its fund at $1.12B.
Across the 10 venues we track, the funds total $6.92B, a change of -0.13%, or -$8.9M, on the day and -0.67% over seven days. Binance at $1.86B (+0.03%) and MEXC at $640.8M (+0.01%) went the other way.
Together the funds equal 15.09% of perpetual open interest, the value of open leveraged bets on the coins we track. An insurance fund is the cash a venue keeps to cover liquidations that close below the bankruptcy price, and these are balances the venues report, not audits.

### 09:20 UTC · Two Deribit Bitcoin futures settle at $75,815.5

Deribit's two Bitcoin futures for Nov 8 settled at exactly the same price, $75,815.5, at 08:00 UTC. One is margined in $BTC itself, the other in USDC.
The venue's $AVAX contract closed at $8.179 in the same window. Those three were the only dated settlements we recorded in the 24 hours to 09:15 UTC.
The coming week is busier. 133 dated futures run out across 15 venues over the next seven days, starting Nov 9 with 13 Bitcoin contracts on Deribit, one on Bullish and one $AVAX contract on Deribit. On the options side, 7,652 contracts expire in the same stretch.

### 09:40 UTC · Bitcoin bids outweigh asks by 11.7%

Resting bids outweigh asks by 11.7% in the $BTC spot book across 21 venues, as of 09:35 UTC on Nov 8. Within 2% of the $75.9K mid, buyers have $153.7M waiting, compared with $121.6M on the ask side.
The two biggest walls sit almost on top of price. There are $34.2M of bids at $75.8K, 0.05% below mid, and $34.0M of asks at $75.9K, 0.05% above it.
Over the prior 24 hours, bids in that 2% range grew 6.9% and asks shrank 14.1%. The mid stood at $75.9K, compared with $76.1K a day earlier, a -0.2% move. Resting orders can be pulled at any moment, so this is a snapshot of the book, not a forecast.

### 10:00 UTC · Big sellers outweighed big buyers

Big money tilted toward selling in the 24 hours to 10:00 UTC on Nov 8. Whale sized sells came to $1.63B against $1.28B of buys, across 1,577 large trades.
Buyers held 44.1% of that flow. That falls below the 45% line we use to call the sellers the leading side.
Bitcoin carried most of the activity, with 803 of those large trades, and also produced the single biggest one of the day at $22.0M.

### 11:00 UTC · Bitcoin leverage stacks close on both sides

Bitcoin traded at $75,867 at 11:00 UTC on Nov 8, with leveraged positions packed close on both sides of the price. Our modeled liquidation map shows no heavier side within 3% of price.
Above, the nearest and largest estimated cluster of short liquidations sits at $76,146, where traders betting on a fall would be made to buy back. Below, the nearest and largest modeled long cluster sits at $75,438, where borrowed bets on a rise would be closed out.
These levels are estimates built from open interest and leverage, not recorded liquidations.

### 12:30 UTC · No Satoshi era coins moved this week

Not one of the 34,124 Satoshi era outputs we watch had moved as of block 975,015 on Nov 8. That watch set holds 1.71 million BTC in old pay to public key outputs, a format that leaves the owner's public key visible on chain.
Across all of $BTC, our own node counts 1.94 million BTC in outputs with an exposed public key. That is 9.63% of all bitcoin by value and 34.01% of outputs by count.
Exposure here describes how coins are locked, a property of the output type. It is not a timeline for when anyone could break those keys.

### 13:00 UTC · Ether leverage is pinned on both sides

Leveraged Ether traders on both sides were packed close to the $2,238 price at 13:00 UTC on Nov 8. Within 3% of price, the modeled exposure was balanced, with neither longs nor shorts clearly heavier.
The nearest estimated short liquidations start at $2,245. That's where traders betting on a fall would be forced to buy back. On the other side, modeled long liquidations begin at $2,227.
The largest modeled cluster below price sits further down at $2,159, where long positions carry the deepest estimated pain on this map.
