## Definition

The Altcoin Season Index measures how broadly altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin: the percentage of the top 50 altcoins whose trailing 90-day return beats BTC's. A reading of 75 or higher is altseason, capital is chasing risk far down the curve; 25 or lower is Bitcoin season, BTC is absorbing the market's flows; everything between is rotation chop. It pairs naturally with Bitcoin dominance: falling dominance plus a rising season index is the classic altseason confirmation. Our version scores the top 50 Binance USDT-M perpetual altcoins by volume against BTCUSDT using daily closes, refreshed every 6 hours; coins with fewer than 60 days of history are excluded so fresh listings cannot distort the share.
