The Altcoin Season Index measures how broadly altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin: the percentage of the top 50 altcoins whose trailing 90-day return beats BTC's. A reading of 75 or higher is altseason, capital is chasing risk far down the curve; 25 or lower is Bitcoin season, BTC is absorbing the market's flows; everything between is rotation chop. It pairs naturally with Bitcoin dominance: falling dominance plus a rising season index is the classic altseason confirmation, while a rising index against flat dominance usually marks a short-lived breadth spike. Our version scores the top 50 Binance USDT-M perpetual altcoins by volume against BTCUSDT using daily closes, refreshed every 6 hours; coins with fewer than 60 days of history are excluded so fresh listings cannot distort the share.

Altcoin Season Index FAQ

What is the Altcoin Season Index?

It is a 0 to 100 score measuring how broadly altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin: the percentage of the top 50 altcoins whose trailing 90-day return beats BTC's. 75 or higher is considered altseason, 25 or lower is Bitcoin season.

Is it altcoin season right now?

Whenever fresh data is available, the current index value and its altseason or Bitcoin season classification are shown live on this page, recomputed every 6 hours from Binance daily closes.

How is the Altcoin Season Index calculated?

We take the top 50 Binance USDT-M perpetual altcoins by 24-hour volume, excluding stablecoins and index products, and compare each coin's trailing 90-day return with BTCUSDT's. The index is simply the share of those coins beating BTC, expressed from 0 to 100. Coins with fewer than 60 days of trading history are excluded.

How does it relate to Bitcoin dominance?

They answer the same rotation question from two angles: dominance tracks where the market cap sits, the season index tracks how many alts are actually winning. Falling dominance together with a rising season index is the classic altseason confirmation; either signal alone is often just noise.

Why does my number differ from other altcoin season trackers?

Trackers differ in universe and window. Some use the top 50 coins by market cap across all exchanges; ours uses the top 50 Binance perpetuals by volume, which leans toward actively traded coins. The regime read (altseason versus Bitcoin season) usually agrees even when the exact number differs.
