Initial balance (IB)

The high and low of a day's first 60 minutes in Market Profile, the range later trade is compared with.

The initial balance is the range a day sets in its first 60 minutes, the first 2 TPO periods from 00:00 UTC. Market Profile readers compare the rest of the day with it: a day that stays inside the initial balance kept to its opening range, a day that trades well beyond it extended. How to read it: the IB high and low are reference prices of that one day, drawn on the profile chart and listed per day in the table. Crypto trades around the clock, so the UTC day start is a convention, stated rather than hidden. The initial balance of each closed day is on the symbol pages.
